Coming soon on Ohio66:

Ohio66 presents an in-depth look at the circumstances surrounding the departure of George Maharis from route 66 in the middle of the third season.

preview Starring George Maharis

The opening shot of Journey To Nineveh. Headed toward Lake Sherwood?

This appears to be the entrance to a park or something similar. There is a sign at the corner just above the car but the words are unreadable even if magnified.

Old Town area of Calabasas in 1962. The building at cetner left is the Pumpkin Hollow Galleries. According to contemporary accounts the gallaries were located at 23517 Calabasas Road.

Buster Keaton tries to outrun runway tire. This is probably somewhere along Calabasas Road.

Comedian Joe E. Brown in his Model A.

Pumpkin Hollow Galleries.

It's difficult to tell from this screen shot, but there is a highway in the middle background which is almost certainly 101. So the road that the car is turning of of is probably Calabasas.

Not much to go by here... but this is a shot of the house from the opposite direction of the previous shot (where the Model A is headed).

Gas station. Route 66 stars George Maharis (standing) and Martin Milner (driver's seat). Note the antique gas pump and the unique vegetation (at least to us Ohioans).

Buster Keaton and George Maharis at the gas station.

Clem's (?) Garage. This was possibly a ficticious name as the Route 66 crew were known to paint custom signs for occasions like this.

Back to Lake Sherwood? Note that the production notes for this indicate that it was to be filmed at Lake Sherwood, but I have my doubts. Last minute schedule changes were always part of the business of filming a television show.

Buster Keaton and George Maharis in a rowboat. Is this Lake Sherwood?

Realty office in Old Town Calabasas. As with the gas station, it is entirely possible that the sign was custom painted by the Route 66 crew.

Miller's Boats was an actual business in Calabasas in 1962. They moved to Santa Maria in 1964 and are still in business at that location today. This building is next to the realty office.

George Maharis, Buster Keaton and Martin Milner. Is this Lake Sherwood? Malibu Lake? Any ideas?

Guest stars Joe E. Brown and Edgar Buchanan. This could be a real courthouse in Calabasas or a soundstage in Bubank.

Another shot inside the courthouse.
